The 5Strands Pet Raw Food & Environmental Intolerance Test combines two powerful assessments to uncover the sources of your pet’s discomfort. Designed for raw-fed pets, this test evaluates sensitivities to over 300 raw food items, including meats, seafood, bones, fruits, vegetables, and oils. It also identifies intolerances to 105 environmental items, such as cleaning supplies, grasses, mold, dust mites, and animal dander.

    Collecting your pet’s hair sample is easy and stress-free. You can take hair from any part of their body by brushing, cutting, or gently pulling fur. If their fur is longer than 1 inch, provide 10–15 strands; if shorter, provide 20–25 strands.

    No special preparation is needed before collection—there’s no need to bathe your pet, stop medications, or worry about fur treatments like dye. Place the sample in the provided anti-static bag and seal it securely before mailing it back using the prepaid shipping label. Be sure to save your tracking number for peace of mind and to monitor the sample’s progress. Once your pet’s sample arrives at our lab, you’ll receive their results in just 5–7 business days.

    Your pet’s test results provide a roadmap to address sensitivities and intolerances. For Level 3 items (high intolerance), we recommend removing them from their diet or minimizing exposure for 6–8 weeks. During this time, their system has a chance to recover and rebalance. After the elimination phase, you can reintroduce items one at a time in rotation and moderation to identify safe levels of consumption.

      Great Results

      I ordered the raw food and environmental test to figure out what my babies allergies were exactly. The test was super easy and the results were extremely prompt. Very extensive and informative! A few items under her protein list were some of her favorites, but obviously not good for her.

      Helped a ton and I have switched her food and am trying to keep certain things away from her. She seems to be adjusting well and doing better. I highly recommend this test!

      Great Service but Results Not Helpful

      The customer service is top notch. However there was so much minutia in the results, I'm not sure how we could use them to figure out what my dog isn't intolerant too.

      Helpful but seriously disappointing

      This test was THOROUGH with results on protein, which is fantastic, but critically lacked in the starches department. They tested ONE grain (NOT SEVERAL), only one legume, and no potatoes. Fortunately, my poor baby girl is okay with peas and squash, two of the whopping THREE starches they test (the other being quinoa, since they don't tell you before purchasing). Don't worry though, I now know emu should be safe for her, which will work as a fine substitute for oatmeal, sorghum, or sweet potatoes. If you're undecided about this being worth the money, it probably isn't.

      It is quite funny though to consider these people don't believe that dogs are omnivores and don't require any starches in their diets XD. This kit is probably better suited for cats (being obligate carnivores). Actually, crazy idea: make different test kits better suited for different species (eg. something similar to this for cats, something more balanced between different food groups for dogs)
