Hi, I’m Allen Smith, a certified pet nutritionist with a lifelong passion for animals and their well-being.

My journey began when I ran a local fulfillment center for Royal Canin’s prescription diet line, serving veterinary offices in my area. I was fortunate to receive formal training in pet nutrition during that time, which opened my eyes to the powerful connection between food and health.

But I also noticed something troubling. Prescription diets often mask symptoms instead of addressing the real issues behind a pet’s discomfort. That realization pushed me to dig deeper and explore a more holistic, root-cause approach to healing.

Through ongoing study and hands-on experience, I uncovered major gaps in how most commercial pet foods are made—and how those gaps can negatively affect our pets’ health.

That’s why I joined 5Strands. Here, I get to work alongside a team that shares my mission: to help pets thrive using natural science, better nutrition, and a more thoughtful, personalized approach to care.

Important: We do not maintain a cancellation policy on consultations. Our practice is that when an appointment is made, we dedicate preparation and research time for our patient's specific needs. The rescheduling fee for the 30-minute appointment is $60.
